40° Edition of Salone Internazionale dell'Umorismo

Theme of the year: DO YOU SMOKE? NO, THANKS...

  • A decidedly effective theme, played with a lot of imagination by all the humorists of almost 50 countries, even if the interpretation was clearly obvious: Do you smoke? No thanks!

    Giorgio Gabellini is awarded the Palma d'Oro and Osvaldo Cavandoli (la Linea) the Dattero d'Oro for the Fixed Theme. Sergio Goizaukas designs the manifesto.

    Antonio Ricci wins the Palma d'Oro for humorous literature for "Drive in" the famous satire television show.

    First exhibition of drawings at the Truffle Exhibition in Città di Castello, a collaboration that will last several years.

    Charles of England, Prince of Wales collects in the Aula Magna of the University of Bologna the prize he won in 1985 for Children's Literature with "The old man of the lake".

    In the halls of the Palazzo del Parco, Shigeko Hono, teacher of Ikebana in Tokyo and special guest of the Salone, teaches floral composition to an enthusiastic audience.

The Awards

The Salone recognizes the artistic qualities of the participants in drawing and literature with several awards. Some prestigious institutions have wanted to add their patronage such as the Council of Europe, the Presidency of the Republic, the City of Bordighera and various other regional bodies and private foundations. The main prizes that are awarded by juries of outstanding personalities are the Palme d'Or trophy which represents the highest recognition for the Authors, the Golden Date and the Silver Date.
