46th Edition of the International Exhibition of Humor
Theme of the year: THE WORLD OF TENNIS
It is the edition of the great turning point: now in its 46th edition, the Salone moves to Sanremo in the splendid setting of the gardens of Villa Ormond. As we know this is only a temporary turning point but the effect is strongly felt by the whole world of humor linked to the Salone.
The godmother of the event is Monica Seles, the great tennis player daughter of Karol formerly Palma d'Oro at the Salone, who takes the opportunity for recreation to recover from the shock of the April attack.
Unfortunately, at the last moment, the tennis player's entourage advises against appearances and public engagements, so Monica has to give up; but only temporarily because it will be there the following year.
Roland Fiddy, Great Britain, is awarded the Palme d'Or for Design; Eray Ozbec, Turkey, wins the Golden Date for the Fixed Theme and Achille Superbi designs the manifesto. Paolo Villaggio wins the Palme d'Or for Humorous Literature with "Dear Director, I write to you ..." Ed. Mondadori.
The ribbon cutting is up to Sen. Luigi Grillo representing the Government, accompanied by the jazz of the Minimum Training Band. In the following days various events alternate: a big party in Piazza Bresca, a retrospective of the films of Ettore Scola, one of the first winners of the Palme d'Or, a debate on humor at the Casino in which Nantas Salvalaggio, Nino Manfredi, Luciano participate De Crescenzo and Luca Goldoni. In Bordighera there is a "Martini & Rossi" party in the garden of the Michelin Hotel: a very welcome reunion!
The award ceremony is held at the Roof Garden of the Casino, the guest of honor will be the TV presenter and journalist, Maria Teresa Ruta.
