42° Edition of Salone Internazionale dell'Umorismo
Theme of the year: THE WORLD CUP, PASSION AND FUN
In 1989 the world of football is already in a state of excitement for the World Cup which will take place in Italy in 1990. The Show plays in attack and helps to fuel the collective expectation by bringing its own humorous contribution made up of drawings and books. All the participants from China, Korea, Eastern countries or South America unleash their imagination: the drawings are really fun! And Cesare Perfetto did well because the exhibition is exhibited in Milan, Turin, Città di Castello, Strasbourg and other European capitals. Not only that, in Milan there is a conference entitled "Yes to smiles, No to violence in the stadium: a therapy to recommend" with the participation of sportsmen, politicians, magistrates, psychologists and ... humorists! One of the first attempts to analyze mass phenomena in stadiums.
Pietro Ardito was awarded the Palma d'Oro for drawing; Huseyn Cakmak wins the Dattero d'Oro for the Fixed Theme design and Hanspeter Wyss designs the poster. Guglielmo Zucconi wins the Palma d'Oro for humorous literature with "Italy wakes up at 2.15pm".
Renovation works of the Teatro del Palazzo del Parco require the transfer of the final evening to the splendid Roof Garden of the Sanremo Casino where, with the nice presentation of Luisella Berrino of Radio Montecarlo, the prizes are awarded. Whereas the traditional rooms of the exhibition are still available, there are exhibitions of posters by Luigi Castiglioni inspired by sports, of a solo show by Jacovitti and of the official Italia 90 posters by Alberto Burri, together with a series of stamps celebrating the Salone.
