Semih Balcioglu

Istanbul, 1928 - 2006.

Graduated from the State Academy of Fine Arts in 1952, he made his debut at just 15 years old, in 1943, with a cartoon on the Young Brushes page of the humor magazine Akbaba (1943). The first artist in his country to create three-dimensional cartoons, he is very active: in addition to his many collaborations, in 1969 he founded the Association of Cartoonists and between 1973 and 1979 he was president of the Union of Turkish Journalists. More than a hundred personal exhibitions and participation in competitions, where he obtained numerous prizes, Bordighera first of all.
