37° Edition of Salone Internazionale dell'Umorismo

Theme of the year: THE MUSIC

  • The theme of the year is actually a "prelude" to the 1985 being proclaimed the Year of Music by the Council of Europe which affirms, with regard to the Salone, "to have the merit of having been able to involve the best names in international humor on this topic with proposals that enhance the possible humorous situations ". The encounter between music and humor could only be a source of positive energy ... in fact, almost all the cartoons are well tuned for a happy marriage between the two arts: music and drawing.
The Origone Brothers, Italy, are awarded the Palma d'Oro for drawing; Eugster Christof, Switzerland, wins the Dattero d'Oro for the Fixed Theme; Guillermo Mordillo designs the manifesto. Antonio Amurri and Dino Verde win the Palme d'Or trophy for humorous literature with “News”.
Defense Minister Giovanni Spadolini inaugurates the Exhibition and states "the Exhibition eliminates the barriers between racism, individualism and exclusivity. It is an excellent message for maintaining peace among peoples".
Among the welcome guests we remember Ennio Morricone who receives the President of the Republic award for the soundtrack of the film "Il giro del mondo degli innamorati di Peynet", and Amilcare Rambaldi, creator of Club Tenco, a Sanremo event that becomes increasingly central in the world of songwriting. We need not underline that the Salone is international, however we note that Erol Simavi, editor of the Turkish newspaper “Hurriyet” has requested the presence of Cesare Perfetto as president of the jury of the “Simavi Karikaturi” an annual contest of caricatures.

    Salone Internazionale dell'Umorismo

The event could not have lasted for over fifty years without the contribution of numerous "volunteers" and "precepts" who brought enthusiasm and desire to do whatever the task received, with nineteenth-century shifts! From the choice of the drawings, to the preparation of the panels (always the same every year), to the posting with various pins of the hundreds of drawings up to the presence on stage.

We therefore want to thank, in absolutely no order but with equal contributions, all those who come to mind, apologizing if we miss some, but we are ready to fix it!
